Well, the weather turned out different than than the forecast. We were concerned about the boundary layer winds capping the lift but with the higher than expected temperatures the air warmed quickly with the decreasing winds. Pilots reported 17K while still climbing at 11 knots! Ray Gimmey the ‘boys’ how to do it again with a 95+ MPH speed. He had 100+ MPH speed but had to stop twice on the final leg.
For Saturday the max temperatures are forecast to be 108 and at 1pm they were all ready 103. Condition are blue blue blue but booming lift to 17K+, some models say 20K, throughout the tasking area. The challenge is to max the day for racing without fatiguing the pilots over the whole flight. The TOL predictions are forecast to start earlier and last through 6pm so we are hoping for and expecting fast fast times today!
