Delayed rest day post

Good morning,

Although we left BHSS yesterday (we had the feeling it’s not going to be a contest day :( ), I feel a owe you an update on our rest day, Tuesday.

I drove from Charlotte to BHSS that morning in order to catch on camera Bill’s first glider flight. But let me introduce you to Bill – he is the Director of Education for the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) and he came to BHSS to meet with our Chairman, Richard Maleady. As you might know, the SSA and the AMA are partners in bringing together flying enthusiasts from both our organizations.

Al, Bill, Jay, Richard

Jay Campbell took Bill for a flight in the Duo and they stayed up for over an hour, giving Bill a great introductory flight. Once they landed, I was amazed by the sparkle in Bill’s eyes – he fell in love with soaring and, as he said in an email this morning, “I really haven’t stopped smiling. It was one of the best days of my life!”.

Thank you Jay for offering Bill such an amazing experience. I hope that more and more modelers will join our ranks in discovering and falling in love with soaring.

Many of you probably fly models as well (it’s great fun after flying or in no fly days :) ), so let me give you a little info about a great event at Triple Tree in SC – Joe Nall week. Have a look at what is going on here – http://www.tripletreeaerodrome.com/joe-nall-week.php and maybe join them next year.

Safe flying,

Miss Daisy
