Leigh Zimmerman "Around the Worlds"

Regarding yesterday’s task, I spoke with USA’s John Seaborn and Germany’s Susanne Schoedel for a little perspective on the outcome in the 15M class. 10 minutes difference in their start times was a big factor for their results. The delayed start of the launches and therefore the late gate opening made for a “sporty” challenge. John got away at 14: 38, in wave conditions before the start, enabling him to get through the first 2 legs and then had several 9 knot climbs into the third turn just ahead of the rain shower. Susanne, conversely, started at 14:48 and said that those in the wave had a 300 to 400 meter advantage over the others. She dodged rain in and around Fredericksburg and was relieved to tiptoe back to the airfield for distance points. John zigzagged slightly in the course line to CincoB to penetrate the T Storm line and break into the blue ito the south. Per John: “It was weaker but with decent climbs into late in the day and then crossing the outflow front on the way home put me above final glide. I flew with Matthias Sturm on much of the task which was very fruitful”.
