Yesterday’s shorter tasks seems to have pleased those that I spoke with. The longer days and hot weather take its toll on pilots and crews, and with possible weather in the mix, long retrieves would have added to the stress and physical fatigue. We are excited that Uvalde is hosting its second Worlds. Mark Huffstutler and Kerry King Huffstutler are/were the driving force behind all of the contests here since 1984 and both very instrumental in this one. Since there is no local soaring club all of the support and staffing are “imported” and I plan to offer some insight to the system in my early morning posts to describe the huge volunteer efforts involved in hosting this event….
