Good Morning from Nice Cool Uvalde on Practise Day 3!

The mornings are absolutely brilliant here. A nice cool wind , blue skies and a sun not really working that hard. Only during the day it starts and we will have 100° F.

It’s 9 AM now and pilots are preparing their gliders for a new day. Not everybody is flying, like yesterday, but the scorers are doing a good job having the preliminary results quickly from those who went up.

So the day winner in 15 m class yesterday was Ed Johnston from the UK [135 km/h = 83.9 mph] with Australian Lisa on spot 2 and the two Dutch pilots Steven and Mark on spots 3 and 4 with Lisa’s husband Peter Trotter as number 5.

In 18 m class German pilot Michael Streit flew with a speed of 145 km/h (90.1mph)over 500 km while  Russian pilot Dmitry Timoshenko did exactly the same. In open class the Aussies Bruce and Brad had a great day flying 143 km/h over 570 km in their JS1Bs.

Had my bike trip around the field, a nice dinner yesterday in Applebee’s, which I remembered from 21 years ago, and a few words with the 1991 CD Mark to check if he could help me with a place to work. Not that sitting outside is not good (see the tent on the above picture), but I have to pack all gear all the time when I rush out to the field on the bike. To finish the first blog the CONCORDIA…

Off to the briefing and back later.
