Eagleville soaring club was present again at the Smyrna Tenn air show May 12,13 2012. This year the Navy Blue Angels performed their flight routine, that amazed the whole crowd. Out tents were set up with 2 sailplanes on hand for the crowd to touch, and even sit inside to see how this thing flies with no engine. We had Ted Wilsons LS-4 and my H301 1966 Libelle on display. Again people are dumb founded, and wonder how it stays up. Many of our club members were on hand to answer all their questions. The weather was good on Friday,(set up day) and Sat May 12, but Sunday May 13 was a different story, showers were on and off all day, but people still came out with rain suites, and umbrella’s, and some not. It cleared enough on sunday for a 90% performance included the blue’s.
Eagleville Soaring Club continues to grow as the cost of fuel, and a day out with the family now requires a bank note for the day. Motorless flight is growing in popularity. We are now in our third year as a club, and looking forward to next year at the air show, and like Bill Mcfarland famous words, come out if you are in the neighbor and see what soaring is all about. www.eaglevillesoaring.org
