From OLC Magazine: At the February 25th Alpenflug Symposium at Innsbruck, Roger Ruppert, developer of the foot-launched ultralight glider Archaeopteryx, gave a presentation on the development of this hybrid hang glider/sailplane. For the full story, and a link to a video of the aircraft in action, see the OLC magazine.
Here’s an excerpt: “The pilot hauls his aircraft up, his upper body inside the cockpit. In his hand he holds the stick. Now he begins to run down the mountain. After just a few steps, the pilot swings upwards, draws his legs inside, and sits in the cockpit. It is not a hang glider, but something in between. It is an Archaeopteryx.”
