As I said last week, the 50th Australian Multi class Nationals have moved due to bad weather and a not too good weather forecast, from Narromine to Tocumwal. Sad for Narromine as I know how good the weather can be ther, but good for Tocumwal.
The organization traveled with the pilots, crews and trailers over more then 600 km. to settle down, still in a good mood on the border of NSW and Victoria where the “mighty”Murray river is part of the border at some places.
Unfortunately day 1 was after all the great weather—not too good and for both 18m and open class the day was cancelled. 15 m. and standard class were flying under not the easiest circumstances.
Day 2 was improving and after 40 mm of rain the 4 classes left from the tarmac runway 09 and finished with good results.
Day 3 was a top day with a 3.30 AAT in all classes and speed up to 154.3 km. over 542 km. by Lars Zehnder.
Today was cancelled due to wind and a trough passing by.
It is cold here in Europe! While temperatures in Ukraine are around minus 43 up to 50 and mostly homeless people dy from cold, Holland had minus 22.3. Not the worst ever that was in 1942 with minus 27.4. Friday we also got snow and though we had a few bad days last years as well, trains planes and cars ended up in total chaos. Over 800 km. traffic jam, 1000 travellers had to stay overnight at Schiphol airport and train passengers who hoped for better conditions after the huge problems last year, did not see improvements and had to wait for hours in the cold. And then some could not enter the train because it was too overloaded.
Great sunny skies however and the 11-Towns- skating-fever is high as the frost is making good thick ice for that great marathon race in the N. of Holland [Friesland] .Also over the upcoming week.
That’s the nice part of winter, the sad part is that more then 200 people died in Europe already and it is not over yet!!!
Look for last weeks news, a lot about Tocumwal and also about the International edition 2 from Segelfliegen and much, much more on www.soaring.eu
