Sarah and Paula Drazul are interviewed by local radio personality

Commentary and Photos from Jason Arnold

Yesterday, Sarah, and the only other young woman of the contest ended up landing and rolling out to the same position on the runway. Sarah said,”We looked at eachother for a few moments trying to figure out if the other was a crew member or pilot, then walked over and met halfway between our gliders.” When I arrived with the car and our crew, their voices could be heard over the car’s radio as they were being interviewed live by the man in the photo (a local radio personality). As the only two women registered in the contest it seemed a rarity for them to meet in this way. Paula Drazul flying in the standard class of her national contest here took fifth place in that class yesterday.
