July 24, 2011 Logan Update

Quick update at 9pm MDT from Logan.

TOUGH DAY!  Weather forecast and models were showing good soaring throughout the tasking area.  4 TP task for 4:00 was called with nominal distance at 306 miles.

Day started slow due to no wind and inversion but we could see the teasing clouds to the east, north and the west.   Sniffers finally stuck and task opened at 3:39 and the task duration was de-tuned to 3:30.   Watching the SPOT tracking it appeared the first 2 legs were good and then we watched the clouds dry out to the SW, W and NW.

the retrieve desk phone started to ring.

We had 4 relights and 5 pilots that completed the task.  Will post more here and at the SSA website as we learn more.

Weather looks good for Monday, hope to get a good task in
