Certainly no regatta start today!

17.00 ;So start times will be crucial again today. With the knowledge that the better weather should be there at 3 it was interesting to see what the decisions would be. In open class pilots left between 14.30 and 15.09. In 18 m. between 15.04 and 15.26. In 15 m. between 14.36 and 15.14. It seems…

A change in task!

12.40 ;TC meeting at the front of the grid at 12.45. for a chance in the 15 m. class task. AND… The sniffer goes up to check the circumstances. First messages 4.5kts.  at 5000 ft. VERY BLUE today! 15 m. now has a C task….one sector less for them is all I know by…

A tough day for some yesterday!

GOOD MORNING on day 11! Another day in Uvalde-paradise but not for all, as some pilots lost a few points yesterday. A pity , and it must have been very disappointing, so on the end of the competition, …but it belongs to soaring as they/we know. Looking at the 15 m. class Sebastian won the 1000…

They seem to go like “rockets”!

17.30 ; When the pilots nicely fly “on time” the first finishers ,should be the first starters and should be back at 17.41 in 18 m. class, at 17 .44 in 15 m. class and at 17.56 in open. So the waiting is nearly over!!!! By the way the wind is less strong then before…

Day 10…from the possible 13!

9.30 ;Quite a breeze here today in the clean tent. Breeze???…pretty tough wind as the wind sock is horizontal and the wind —and dust from the crop duster—goes straight through the tent. About to start day 10 out of the possible 13 and yesterday we had “new” daily winners. NOT in open class as Michael…

“Taste” the International Party!

Here is an impression from the PARTY yesterday and what party it was!!!! Great food , lovely drinks, sorry I had to say so many times no as the “booze” was too heavy for my a little bit tired body. But….the Belgium JUPILER went in without hesitation , making me nearly feel “home” in Belgium…

Day 9…Started at 12.30! Updated!

12.10 ; The meeting on the front of the main runway makes all captains drive to that point. Dust and lots of cars on one heap, are the result. The result of the meeting will follow later. Today’s ‘sniffer’ is Sam Zimmerman, Leigh’s husband,  flying SZ and he is already up and mentions as best…

A sunny good morning on day 9 here in Uvalde!

9.00 ; The shower yesterday ” nearly ” reached us , as you can see on the picture, but decided  to turn to the West. A bit of rain would have been welcome on a dusty field , but the combination dust and rain on white wings is not so good!Luckily the weather is not in our hands!!!…
