3 BIG events in Europe are finished, one to come! It’s junior-time now!

 Ostrow mooi 3

With the 17th EGC flown for the “big ones” in Vinon in France [ 9 days] and for  the “smaller ships” in Ostrow in Poland  [ 10 days] AND the WWGC in Issoudun , also in France, [ 10 days] we had a full summer of great soaring and I really enjoyed it! With the JWGC to start next weekend, it was a busy season as well.

The CHAMPIONS carry their titles for 2 years. So Louis Bouderlique from France [15 m] ,Sebastian Kawa from Poland [18m.] and Michael Sommer from Germany [open class] are the proud gold-diggers from Vinon.
The CHAMPION-title for club class went to Roman Mracek, [Czech Rep.], a clear winner with 350 points on the runner up,  for standard class to Sebastian Kawa from Poland and in the 2 seater class to Wolfgang Janowitsch and Andreas Lutz from Austria, also clear winners with 373 points on the number 2.

Last but not least for the ladies the gold and WORLD CHAMPION title was for Christine Grote from Germany in club class, Sue Kussbach from Germany in Standard class and Anne Ducarouge from France .

2 Points I want to mention extra as they were special. First of all that Sebastian wins the EGC title both in France in 18 m. and in Poland defending his EGC title from 2 years ago in standard class.
And,…the fact that in the club class from the WWGC 4 ladies proudly stood on the podium-of-honour, as behind Chrissie , both Doerte Starsinski [Germany] and Ayala Truelove [UK] won the silver with equal points. An empty spot 3 was not wished by the organisers and that idea was shared by the TC’s,  so that place WITH the bronze medal went to Sarah Kelly Arnold from the USA, who won 2 days, day 1 and 8 from the 10.

Unique!

The EGC in Ostrow only finished yesterday with a great last flying day , too good as some said , for a small task. But the organizers wanted to be ready with the scores as in the evening the prize giving and party were taking place as well.
They had 5 days of flying , 5 days of forced rest and another 5 days of good soaring. The last day even with wave up till 2370 m., a cloud-base of 1600 m. and lift between 3 and 5 m/s.

Also here 2 great but tricky last days. The last but one day , with a lot of out landings and pilots dropping from good to less good places, but the toppers staying at their spots and the last one with a closing time from the start line , 1 hour already after it was open, causing confusion for some.

10 days of soaring in Ostrow, 5 from 9 top places for Poland. No doubt Poland is a very strong soaring nation. Congratulations to them and ALL other pilots for giving us lot’s of joy.

Next week another big FAI event takes place; the JWGC , also in Poland, this time in Leszno. Yesterday the practise week started, next Saturday is the opening. From the 6 Dutch participants 3 flew already in Ostrow. One in the back of the ARCUS, 2 flying in standard class one of them Peter who won 3 days!!!
