Saturday April 27 – Getting out of Dodge (or Perry, as the case may be)

Woke up to rain on the roof of the Micro-Castle – never a good sign at a gliderport :-(.  Radar shows rain moving in from the gulf of Mexico, so it looks very much like sodden toast here for the Perry contest.  I’ve started packing up the interior of the castle in preparation for an early departure today, but I think I’ll remember the 2013 Perry contest for some time.  Lots of ups and downs, but a heck of a ride in any case.  Got my first Perry day win on Day 1, and on the last day got a Stearman retrieve after one of my more memorable competition flights – what an experience.

The Castle will go back into its slot in my garage and get a little TLC in preparation for the upcoming Sports Class Nationals at Mifflin in may, then Moriarty and Hobbs in June.  My CAI 302 will come out of the glider and go to R-Track for some remedial elocution training, as it has developed a bad lisp.  Instead of ‘beep beep beep’ during a climb, I now hear something like ‘bwwweeep bwwweeep bwwweeep’. I think either the internal speaker or the audio tone generator is on its way out of the building ;-)

Stay tuned!
