Wings Over Sweden Project

There’s a new project on Kickstarter which ought to appeal to anyone interested in aviation.  It’s a TV documentary by Planetaire, the people behind the film Sailplane Grand Prix in the Andes.

Wings-over-sweden-blueThe new project is about the battle for a place in the starting lineup in the Skyrace World Cup, a new format of elite glider competitions which is in the pipeline.  The series starts with Wings Over Sweden, focusing on four young pilots as they compete for a place in Skyrace, but it will be replicated in a number of countries.  If you think that airsports deserve more exposure on TV, click HERE to go and support the project on Kickstarter. In return for pledges it offers the kind of perks that have made Kickstarter into a huge success. One of the perks is actually called AVIATOR. Need we say more?

Here what some of our friends (especially, my dear friend Sarah Arnold) have to say about Soaring.

Finance through crowd-funding

To finance the trailer of the documentary, we are relying on ‘crowd-funding’, and we have chosen Kickstarter.com.

KickstarterlogoKickstarter is the world’s largest funding platform for creative projects. Every week, tens of thousands of people pledge small amounts of money to projects from the worlds of music, film, games and other creative fields. In January Kickstarter announced that, since its launch in 2009, the service had exceeded $100m funding for 8,567 independent films. By choosing the projects they wanted to succeed, the 891,979 backers effectively took on the role of publishers at a very low risk, which could represent a paradigm shift.
The average pledge is $71 and the most common pledge is $25.
