Jetman Yves Rossy at Springhill
Old news is no news is what they learned me in the past and though I am just an amateur I keep to that, as it is true.
So my friend Tony , a frequent flyer with us in the past at Sportavia, who moved a couple of years ago from Melbourne to New Zealand, married there the lovely Emily from the USA and bought one of the most beautiful estates I have seen, shared this news with me.
They invited me in 2010 to see where they live and look with them at opportunities for the estate with hangars and a runway.

On February 13 they had an interesting visitor ;
“We had a very special visit from an amazing aviator at Springhill, Yves Rossy, Jetman .
He’s a special person and we’ve been happy to host he and his lovely wife Fouzia and the technician Andre”.
The reason of the visit; “Emily is making a Music Video about Kids, dreaming of Flight….”
Here is the story written by Emily.
—“Yves Rossy and I have joined together to promote a positive and motivational message to kids. He’s battled challenges and defeats but pursued his dream of flying. He never gave up.
My song, “Dare to Dream” (My artist name is Emme Lentino)incorporates this theme. My love of kids and wanting to help them anyway I can is shared by Yves. We both want to encourage and support children in their dreams.

Tony had a dream idea months ago that Jetman was flying over our property in Wellsford to one of my songs. We never imagined it would become a reality!
A few months later…..Tony and I had the honor of meeting Yves and his wife Fouzia at the airshow. Yves was using Tony’s helicopter at the airshow to do his incredible stunt, flying! It was a fantastic site indeed!

A few days later, we asked him if he would be interested in helping us create an ad to promote The Starship Foundation. A fast friendship developed. Yves also has a love of children and it was so cool to speak with him about our similar interests in helping kids and inspiring them. I shared that I am a teaching artist in Wellsford; teaching kids theatre, music and dance. That my students inspire me daily with their honesty and imaginations.
He and his wife shared amazing stories about his trips around the world speaking to children and visiting sick children in hospitals. The more Tony and I got to know he and his wife we knew our paths had crossed for a reason.

We immediately contacted our friend, Fergus Milner an amazing film maker and asked him to help us put the ad together. He called upon Cinematographer, Simon Temple to help him put together a special film crew to make this production a reality. The filming was a thrilling experience for everyone. The kids loved meeting Jetman and a wonderful time was had by all.
We used my song, “Dare to Dream” (written by Emme Lentino and Bryan Bell) as the soundtrack and featured Jetman flying and local kids watching his amazing talent.
The message of the ad will be used to promote Starship Foundation. A call to action to support them and help them raise money for children who are sick.
We asked Yves if he would be interested in speaking at Rodney College(a local Wellsford School) and he was very happy to do so. He hadmet many of the students a few days prior.
He gave an awesome talk today to tons of kids and showed them vidoes of his flying, explained the hardships to get there and encouraged them to not give up but make their dreams a reality.
Rodney was his only school visit in NZ. Wellsford was very honored to have this exclusive time with him.
The ad will be finished in the next month. We are exploring other ways we can help support Starship and other organizations like it. It is early days so we are open to possibilities and excited about a bright future!
Fact about Jetman:
2007 marked the year Yves starting receiving sponsorships for his flights. Before that, he was entirely self funded! Now he is world famous and the only human on earth who flies solo, just like a jet.
