Uvalde Gifts!

Now that blog 2000 from SoaringCafe, is about a fact for Bill and Rand , the founders of SoaringCafe, I share with you their appreciation for me working for them in Uvalde as I am proud of our cooperation.

Nice gift isn’t it, and … isn’t that kind of them. The special in pure hardwood designed  gift is hanging on a nice white wall in my hall. AND….congratulations on their future,  maybe NOW already,  2000 blogs in a pretty short time! Well-done guys!!!! Great idea and quality news, big or small!
Soaring café is part of our soaring lives now, as if it was always there.

The other present is a gift from my landlords and it arrived last week in my house after a trip from Uvalde to Houston by car and then in the container by boat to Holland. Then Mark, one of the Dutch Uvalde pilots, took it to his home and yesterday he found time to bring it to me. Thank you to Bill and Rand and to Kay and Les, who made this out of  pure metal painted in black, so very heavy, and to Mark for taking it all the way and bringing it to me.

The very first competition in the new season was, as you know, in Kingaroy /Australia and the winners are known now as the comps are over , after 2 cancelled days and 9 flying days. Great spring conditions for club and sports class. Good winners as well. In sports class John “Butch” Buchanan in the ASG 29. Butch was supposed to go to Uvalde and fly for Australia but withdrew. Brad and Bruce were there and Brad did well being 2d. Bruce had no chance for high scores as he missed the first TWO days due to a later departure than expected from the harbour in Sydney, after the glider had to be imported in Australia.

In club class, kilometer-eater Allan Barnes won the last day and was back on spot 2 overall behind Jim Crowhurst, who topped the overall list EVERY day except for day 1 when Adam Woolley was the best. Adam ended on spot 4.

Chaves – In Holland they have been very busy packing the containers for Chaves. Grietje and Francesco [Corowa] have put one of their containers to the disposal of the Dutch team, to use for the shipment from Terlet to Chaves. Fantastic gesture!

Pictures from FB courtesy YES , here he is AGAIN, Frans Guise!
Container top-left you see the TC from Uvalde Rene and to the left from  him the TC from Chaves Bart.
Frans will be in Chaves as well so I hope to share some TOP- pictures while being in Australia myself.

Also in the UK they are busy packing and  sending their gliders.
Container packing for Argentina tomorrow! 4 gliders, 2 trailers and all our kit!” By UK pilot Graham Garnett on FB.

In between, 33 pilots have flown in 3 classes in Orient in South Africa, amongst them UK pilot Andy Davids and NZ pilot John Coutts, as well as Oscar Goudriaan and Dick Bradley.

2 Days in club and 15m and 3 in open class with as winner Andy Davis in the JS 1 b [1568] , before Mannie Mc Lauchlan, [1515 ASG 29/18m.], John Coutts , [1322 JS1] Oscar Goudriaan [1315 JS1b] and Dick Bradley[1173 ASH 25] . The amount of points says enough about the flying.
