The President of the IGC Has Arrived!

Mr Eric Mozer, the president of the IGC, has arrived. Pleased I am allowed to call him as I always did Herbie. Great to see him again.

Briefing is over and of course Herbie was introduced , as a distinguished guest, to all who do not know him , but ….who doesn’t know him .
Winners from yesterday were announced:
Matthias Sturm in 15 m. class, Peter Setka in 18 m. and Sylvain Gerbaud in open class.

Swiss table with TC Willem Langelaan to the r.
and Werner Danz in the middle.

Tasks for today: I only know that they are short as the day will start pretty late today and that 18 m. has a racing task of 334.5 km.
Hope the tasks will be soon on the official site or on soaringspot.

Got some more info about the field here:

Uvalde elevation is 941 ft.MSL
Tow release is at 2900 ft MSL
There is no max altitude today, normally it is 10.000 ft MSL=3048 m

Grid time today is 13.20 Earliest launch today 13.50

Finish closes today at 20.14.

The weather: A new record high yesterday in the Del Rio area, 41°C. Here it was 39.5°C. For today Dan announced continuing dry conditions. The clouds/morning stratus have disappeared. Lift will be 1,5 m-2 m./s. and around 2 and 2-2.5 m./s. at 4 PM.
Max altitude 6500 ft. increasing later in the day to 7500 ft. Temperature will be 39°C. Wind from the SE a bit stronger at 12-17 kts.
It seems the weather till now was NOT typically Uvalde weather, but for tomorrow for the opening Dan “promised” a typical Uvalde sky!

Tomorrow there will be NO flying. We all go to town to the parade and opening ceremony and of course I will take my camera.
We all gather at the State Bank, can’t remember where that is, but as guest of WE, 18 m. pilot Bill Elliott and his lovely wife Carol, I will surely be there in time. Bill in the middle on the USA table!

Tonight is the Pre-Comps  party and tomorrow evening at 7 there is a mandatory safety briefing in the briefing room.
Here is my office: even have a radio now! Sometimes a “bit”hot but a “social”place with a good view of the field.
