Day 3 – Hi and Good Morning!

9.30 AM :What a splendid day of flying yesterday. Surely you have seen the preliminary results with some interesting scores!

Looking at 15 m. we knew already that Mathias Sturm  is a great pilot and…with a fantastic team behind him, he even “gets” bigger. Good on him and his mate David who was 2nd!
If I remember well Mathias was on the podium in Rieti as well. He won day 2 in 15 m class with a nice speed of 146.4 km./h. Pretty good!!!!

Felt a bit sorry for my Italian friends Thomas [35] and Stefano [28] as I know how good they are. Still time enough to show what they can do.Luckily Stefano got his points on day 1.

In 18 m. class 147.7 km/h was the best speed flown by the current WGC champion Zbigniew from Poland in the ASG 29. Followed by Russell from the UK in the JS1. I heard already on Wolfgang’s voice over the radio while announcing his downwind leg, he was unhappy; he was in spot 33 yesterday, very unusual for him.

In open class all problems for Pete [Harvey CA] with the “lost door” and “melted” tape were solved and he won the day in the Antares 23, without an engine. Good old Baldrick, his longtime crew [in picture below], put a fancy and  smooth layer of tape over the hole and did as I heard a “sterling” job.

The first 17 pilots in open class were ALL in between 900 and 1000 points on the real Uvalde-weather-day. Felt sorry for Patrick [GP]; he was already a bit upset in the morning during briefing, then he had to come back and in the end he finished last for the day.

Looking forward what today will bring off to the briefing now.

On the Gaggle Talk site;
—it is pretty busy on the stand from my neighbour selling his bread. At the moment, part of  the German team is buying his bread.Yesterday other members from Team Germany bought his bread already.

—Had a nice dinner yesterday. Invited by Andreea [MEDIA] and with her, John, the deputy CD and task setter, Richard [grounds] and Rick, IGC delegate and crew for Dick Butler. In the restaurant lots of pilots with their crews and staff members. Was a good night.

—finally had a bit of time to look how the Dutch are doing in the Olympics. Good!!!! They are in spot 11 of the medal list!!!!
