Another long day of waiting!Updated! Finishers soon!

Pilots did not wait too long before going on track.16.00 updates;
In 15 m. the start opened at 14.36 and at 14.39 the first pilots were on their way. German pilot, Matthias had a tracker with him and started with mate David at 14.49 together with Ed Johnston [UK] while Dave Leonard [USA] departed last at 14.59!
In 18 m. class no start times visible yet.YES they are there NOW!INTERESTING as the UK boys Mike and Russell went on track straight away at 13.57, so when the line opened!Last pilot departed at 14.23!
In open class the start opened at 14.15 and the first pilots went on track 2 minutes later, while the last ones, the EB 28 pilots from Belgium  departed at 14.33. Within 15 minutes the open class boys were all gone!!
On the picture below the wing span 28 m. of the CONCORDIA and the winglet.

Got a comment on Tom’s news from Robert Danewid and I share that as well. I was at BOTH comps but can’t remember, sorry.
Comment:
Tom is actually wrong. At the WGC at Benalla, Australia in 1987, the Open Class flew a 840 km triangle which most of the competitors completed. If I remember correctly Ingo Renner won that day. It was blue conditions. I was there (on the ground).
Cheers
Robert
CD WGC 2006

So before the end of the comps we surely know what was the biggest distance in a WGC.
I know for sure that Finland , Räyskälä , had a 1000 km. set on the FIRST day of the Europeans in 1995 AND…flown by most of the pilots. Pete [Harvey] was one of them!
I was there as well, so was Dick [Bradley] he was my boss then as chief steward.

Pete eating his banana and Michael preparing his glider today.

TC Carol and crew laughing , while Oscar is working hard laying on the ground, luckily he laughs most! Team South Africa is in GREAT mood!

Brad from Australia and Holger from Germany preparing for the 1.PM launch.

Dutch pilots in open class are doing pretty well ;Peter and Francois in the Nimbus 4T and Quintus.

17.00 ; update. Tracking time should be real time now.So I had a quick look for you. Open class pilots Sylvain from France, Peter from Holland and DB, USA pilot Dick fly with a logger as well as Pierre from Belgium.
They are on their long leg which nominal is 217.9 km. from the N to the S and then they still have to fly back to Uvalde. I can’t see how far they have been in the circle but it looks like DB is doing well. IP 2 Pierre is at 2216 m. ASL, 72 Sylvain at 2466 m. ASL, DB at 1906 but came from N to the TP and HW ,SS and FJ are leading at this stage according to the tracking system. Look at this great 360 dgr. picture I got from the Dutch Team. Click on it and move the mouse to look around. Thanks to  Dutch Team Captain Rene who took the picture!!!!

The skies are still great all around us looking to the N, the S and the W and E, cloud street no overdevelopment yet, so GO GO pilots.

ONE important POINT; I might get loose the power due to a band going to play. They need all power so I hasve to unplug when they start. Will work on the batteries as long as possible . Sorry about that. If it is not updated, please look for the scores at www.soaringcafe.com or the official site. The first seem to be arriving in less the an hour, I guess.
EVEN more important I seem to be able to not use my table here anymore and my powerpoint…… will sort it out!

On the GAGGLE TALK site;
—found out who is going to fly in the P51. Tassilo our always smiling top-pilot from Germany[VB]  and Jeff Schiemann from Switzerland.

—THE band is coming VERY close to my table now, they brought their kelum carpet. But…as I just heard from them they start at 7 , I might be lucky to continue, don’t want to see my laptop “explode”.

— Seems a Jet , which just landed at 15 this morning , had to wait after landing in the queue with a few gliders at the taxi way.  They waited for the jet to leave the scales.
