The briefing started with an introduction of Loek Boermans [top picture]from the Netherlands talking about OSTIV.In 2 minutes he let us know why OSTIV is here and is combined with a WGC already since 1948. All news about OSTIV can be found on the official site under OSTIV. He finished his 2 minutes with
SAFETY FIRST, THEN PERFORMANCE!!!!

The winners were announced same as I told you already this morning. The Australian team is still hoping and working  to get the 50 points penalty for Tom back, so WHEN he get’s them he will be day 1’s winner. Winners got a nice prize from a local hardware shop and the daily prize was from the High School.

Dennis Linnekin, the USA team captain remembered all of us that we are welcome at the party tomorrow organized by TEAM USA in conjuction with the SSA[Soaring Society of America, for those who do not know] . There will be a silent auction to bid on 2 flights in the P 51 Mustang with Mark H. Wow, a lot would love that so to hear!!!!

Love the picture from two TOP ICONS in soaring, Hannes Linke and Bernald Smith. Bernald tells me, everytime I make a picture from him that he is a professional model and “Happily takes ‘1000 dollars”. Today I gave him one cent; he treats as 3.500 dollar he said. On the right picture above Loek Boermans with Pete Harvey from the UK.

Weather:
Dan, in a blue jacket and tie today, looked back at yesterday. The East wave was moving faster and enhanced the speed and intensity of the sea breeze. From Arne [Denmark ], we heard that with the showers there was a higher layer with pilots and a lower one. Luckily he really got a great climb with 3.5 m/s to get him out of that lower layer.

Organizers extra send the pilots to the SE to avoid the sea breeze.

—Today we started with blue skies, now we have cu’s as we see them  now, also midlevel moisture and in the end of the day clouds again and maybe some rain from thunderstorms over in Oklahoma and Texas.
—Nice wind here, today will be SE again 8-12 .
—Lift will be 1.5 m/s-2.5 m/s. at around 2 and 2.5 m/s -3 m/s at 4 PM.
—Cloud base at 8500 and  increasing to 10.000 ft in the mountain area.
—Temperature 37.5°C and in the mountain area 38°C.

Every day the TEAM CUP Prize will be mentioned and yesterday it was France . The French table got the TEXAN flag on their table for the day. Good on them. Further on there is a penalty for finishing after sunset.

Grid time today: 12.15
Earliest launch time will be 12.45.

Now you are up to date. CU later.
