Cordele – Back on the road again

I’m writing this from my Micro-Castle at Cordele, after having rolled in about 3 hours ago, set up the camper, and attended Gregg Turton’s wonderful free welcome dinner at the Ramada Inn.  For those of you who don’t know Gregg Turton, he is the owner/proprietor of the Best Western/Colonial Inn and Ramada Inn (at least) in Cordele, and an aviation enthusiast besides (he bases his Cirrus SR-22 4-place single-engine IFR ship at Cordele).  He (and I think his father before him) has hosted at least one dinner for Cordele Regional contestants for as long as there has been a Cordele contest, as a thank you for the business we bring his way every year.

Anyway, I’m set up and ready to start flying tomorrow.  I took an extra day off from soaring to be with my wife, so I missed what was reportedly a pretty good practice day here today – oh well :-).

After returning from the welcome dinner/safety meeting, I spent some quality time with my PC getting the Cordele SPOT map set up.  It can be found using any of the following links:
