New Jersey Pilots Lay Siege to OLC in February

From the OLC Magazine: On February 21st, 10 pilots from Blairstown, New Jersey logged 5,458 km on the U.S. East Coast ridges and captured the top nine worldwide OLC positions for that day. Robert Templin claimed the top spot with an 844 km flight. Pilot Paul Seifried was among them, and he submitted a full report to the OLC Magazine. Here’s a short excerpt: “The battle continues for top honors among North American clubs with Aero Club Albatross (ACA) making a decisive move on February 21st…once again highlighting Blairstown, New Jersey as a world class soaring site. Not only did four pilots fly 500 km plus out and return flights to southern Pennsylvania, but a NJ state 300K speed record was also captured by a fifth pilot.” For the rest of the story, see Paul’s article in Segelflugszene .

Editor’s Note: At the 2012 SSA Awards Banquet in February, Paul was recognized by OLC’s Reiner Rose as the 2011 World Standard Class Champion in the OLC Barron Hilton Cup Challenge. Paul also won the 2011 SSA Distance Award, which was presented by SSA President Al Tyler at the SSA General Membership Meeting.
