US Team Arrives in Freudenstadt – Musbach

Yesterday the US team arrived at Freudenstadt-Musbach. We have spent the last day getting settled, recovering from jet lag, and praying that Continental Airlines will find and deliver Devin’s bags to the gliderport. Unfortunately, it appears that Devin’s bags never made it out of Los Angeles. The pilots, Devin Bargainnier and Boyd Willat have been exceptionally resourceful and arranged gliders on a trade for time in a glider in the US. Devin’s glider arrives today from the UK, a borrowed LS-8 which he will be flying in standard class. Boyd is flying a LS-7 in sports class which arrives tomorrow from France.

The gliderport is situated on on a beautiful green hillside and as we get closer to the start of the contest the camping area is starting to fill up. Tomorrow we will start technical inspections and registration, and it appears they’ve changed the schedule to allow training flights tomorrow as well.

Take a look at the contest website at www.jwgc2011.de and also on Facebook.

We are headed into town in a few minutes to fix a couple of cell phones, and run some other miscellaneous errands before the start of the contest.

Signing off for now. Stay tuned.

Cheers,
