Well Race Fans…….
Today the CD and Task Advisor got into a world of sink. “UNDERCALL UNDERCALL!!!!! Who do I complain to??? I could do a better job if I felt like volunteering!!!!! UNDERCALLLLLLLLLlllllllllooooo…….! It’s all we heard at the finnsh.
That’s right……the CD and I were betting that the 1degree spread needed to send the bases to 9000′ and thermals into the double digits would not happen. Couple that , Dr. Hartley Bortamier Falbaum was deeply concerned about the temp. hitting in the 100s before launch and for medical concerns went with caution and ask for a 3:oo task.Well the boys scourch 81+ mph around an AT course with 5 pylons to be back before CD Ray Galloway could finish his afternoon Root Beer Float. “UNDERCALLLLLLL!!!!!!! Ray ask for CD volunteers and they all scattered. Ray and I licked our wounds and like the good soldiers we are will troop on tomorrow .
Bases were a 7K at the start running west to Americas in mostly blue with the clouds starting 10 miles out. Left turn to the S clipping Sylvester on the way N and out into the blue again. Bases were above 9K before the blue began allowing a bump and run back to the W hooking up with the clouds again on the way to Montezuma. S to Leesburg before turning home all below clouds. 203 miles. So , East of I75 blue, West clouds.
Winner ……David Greenhill 16 at 81.56 with Chip Garner 2 points behind at 81.41. David Springford (Guest) claiming third and Erick Mann P3. The task was devalued due to the winner and everyone else finishing in less than 3 hours.
New air had moved into the area overnight and the sky was near clear after (rest day) Sunday was hazy with a thunderstorm over Americas last night. Three days to go and expecting to fly each one of those days. I can tell you this, who ever wins…..everyone had fair chance to earn it.
