Day 5 at the Standard Class Nationals

Greetings……

The weather was forecast to be good with strong possibilities of areas of blue sky. Reason….it is so dry above 7-8000′, the thermals push the clouds into the dry air to evaporate/disappear. A 238 miles Assigned Task NE to McCrea W to Montezuma SE to Tifton and home via a steering turn Rochelle was called.  With the leg to McCrea looking bleak, it was change to a 3hr. TAT with 15 miles ring around all and 5 around Rochelle.

David Greenhill 16 would take the win with 71+ mph sharing it with Guest Baude Litt LBL. Phil Gaisford PG would claim 3rd (2nd) followed by Chip Garner CG. Bases would climb to 8000′ in the North with 6-8kts thermals. Tomorrow is a rest day with 4 more days of racing most likely.

Region 5 finished today with 6 race days and will allow the Standard Class to spread out a little.
