Day 2 at the Standard Class Nationals

Hello everyone,

TA will be leaving Cordele on Saturday and I have been ask to fill in. With such tight scores, this year could give us a bit of excitement. HOT DRY are the conditions with great soaring expected throughout the week and beyond.

Sorry about the late post but today CD Galloway called what he promise….a 240 mi. speed task ( AT ) . However when nothing started to pop by 1:45, a 3hr. TAT was quickly called and mother nature soon after found the switch with most everyone thru the gate by 2:30. 6-7 kts. thermals were found to a rising cloud base of 7-8000′ by 4:00.  Conditions were a little better than yesterday reflected by the slightly better speeds.

This writer has manage to snatch two first place wins by a mere 2 points each day. WTF!! You got it, don’t ask cuzz I ain’t got no clue neither. I’m beginning to understand the glaze-over look I would get when I ask the big boys how to do it back in 2003. Canadian Team Member Dave Springford (F1-Guest) followed my 73.94mph with a 73.77 with US Team Member Mike Smith XM at 73.72. With 7 more flying day, it’s anyone’s contest.

The Jr. Team thru a beer social for donations. They will be competing in the worlds this summer in Germany. Send them a few bucks….a great bunch of guys. Also, the Chamber of Comm. put on their welcome to Cordele fishfry tonight with all the trimmings ….a great bunch of people.

Check out OLC for a view of the task.
