Biography of Wallace Scott (1924 – 2003), soaring legend of the 60’s – 80’s, known for his straight-out, free distance soaring flights and his bigger than life personality.

Holder of four FAI World Records; Straight Distance to a Declared Goal & Out and Return, 20 – time winner of the Lewin A. Barringer Trophy, US preeminent award for free distance soaring flight, and two time winner of the Smirnoff Race.

Known for his meticulous preparation of long distance flights, his ability to read the weather before the age of advanced weather tracking technology, his determination to use every good Texas soaring day, his friendship and mentoring of soaring friends, and his love for Boots.

He was one of the band of soaring pilots that put Odessa, TX on the soaring-map.
