Billy Hill – The fastest Weekend Pilot of the Year 2012

Albuquerque’s glider pilot Billy Hill is the fastest OLC-League pilot of the season 2012. Almost every League weekend he launched his Discus 2 “Zulu” from his home airfield in Moriarty and enjoyed a quick run across the New Mexican skies. Flying along the mountain ranges which rise to the West of the airfield and soaring northwards into the Southern Rockies, Billy knows how to use the lines of lift below 18,000ft. He is the current Vice Speed Champion in the United States. Asking him how he is able to turn thermals into high speed, he will simply answer: “Well, I do always fly as fast as I can…”

HPH Sailplanes: High-tech racers produced in the Czech Republic

HPH Sailplanes is a small Czech glider manufacturer. After bankruptcy of Glasflügel in 1998 HPH took over the molds of the 304CZ and based on that, the HPH304-line was developed. Particularly with the jet propulsion system of the 304 Shark the Czechs have caused a big sensation.
