The meteorological autumn started today and for some it is time to “worry about” the next soaring pleasure! Containers for  Australia, South Africa and Namibia are ready to be packed and then shipped to the several harbours,  to be brought to their final destination by trucks.
So soaring-life continues in the end of 2013 and beginning of 2014, for the lucky ones going down under or to South Africa, Namibia and for great [wave] flying in New Zealand!

The COROWA containers will be packed from September 20 onwards with an estimated start of the season in those gliders on November 16 2013.
The Namibia containers for Bitterwasser will be packed between September 5 and 8 and for Kiripotib November starts with “Flying with the champions” ,[ a big training-event….learning from the best pilots in the world!!!] organised by Ludwig Starkl and Wolfgang Janowitsch.[rent-a-glider]

“Logistics is in the hands of a well known and practiced team: Bernd Dolba and Christian Hynek are Namibia-experts. They are responsible for flight operations, accommodation, shipping of containers, weather-briefing, scoring and so on. The gliders, several Arcus and ASH25, are organized by Rent-a-Glider.
Ludwig Starkl is responsible for coordination. The package includes virtually everything, except the trip to Windhoek. “

Now the dream of flying overseas for the European pilots is slowly getting reality again, we had a 50 thiest- birthday -party yesterday from Peter,  we and most of you called him Brutus,  who worked 5 years with us as manager at the Sportavia Soaring Center. Looking around we had such a lot of friends who had been at Tocumwal or live [1] in Tocumwal now, that we made a picture of the group. Here you are and enjoy the rest of the pictures as well.

Of course Natasja ,[ here with Loek,]  was in Tocumwal as well, she was just too late for the group picture, so she is added “special”!!!

 Really interesting to see how nearly all comps finished in one go. BUT ,the UK Mountain nationals have just started in Aboyne [Scotland]  and proceed till next week with 19 pilots in open class.
And..Chilhowee is “on” with the standard class Nationals and …with Sarah; she was not only flying the WGC in Chaves and  the WWGC in Issoudun,  but she is also competition director this week on her own airfield.
A young lady of many talents , as I guess she will jump in the tug as well, as her husband is flying in the comps, so is your editor from Soaringcafe Rand Baldwin.

And to finish RENCONTRE ASK 13 2013 , at Saint Crepin [France] with as always great pictures! The Saint Crepin team won, flying 7 days and gaining 6946 points. On day 1 they nearly flew 140 km. with speed 92.6 km./h. On day 2 the Nancy team flew nearly 160 km. Great effort!!!
But there were days with 53 km. as well. Must be awesome all those ASK 13’s together on the grid!
