In Europe, the Alps do offer some unique soaring conditions. Wave and ridge soaring as well as extended thermal flights with views of a fantastic mountain range are possible. It does not matter in which country you launch, in France, Germany, Italy, Slovenia or in Switzerland; the opportunities to score speed points are given anywhere. Taking a look into the OLC-Alps scores this is easily understood. The season to score points in the mountains is usually longer than in the flatlands because of the better conditions in the multifaceted terrain.
