OLC-Alps – Klaus Ohlmann is Speed-Champion in the European Mountains

In Europe, the Alps do offer some unique soaring conditions. Wave and ridge soaring as well as extended thermal flights with views of a fantastic mountain range are possible. It does not matter in which country you launch, in France, Germany, Italy, Slovenia or in Switzerland; the opportunities to score speed points are given anywhere. Taking a look into the OLC-Alps scores this is easily understood. The season to score points in the mountains is usually longer than in the flatlands because of the better conditions in the multifaceted terrain. This makes for an even more exciting competition, till the last contest day speed flights were done in the Alps. However the 2012-Champion is clearly Klaus Ohlmann. He scored 762.38 speed points...
