Welcome on day 4 in Uvalde!

9.00 ; A BIG thank you to TEAM USA /SSA, for organizing a BIG party yesterday evening, which attracted a BIG crowd. There was a BIG long horn bull and BIG hotdogs and a BIG glass of beer and the BIG tent was FULL.
More about this late in the GAGGLE TALK asa a remark this morinig by a few was :” How is your Head today”.

Soaring-Day 3 was a “ripper”, fast and good! Matthis Sturm flew his “little” 15 m. ASW 27, over the 644 km. in 4 hours 22 minutes and 44 seconds. GOOD ON HIM!!!
Mac [Japan] must have been inspired by his new fanclub and flew to a great 2d place.[144.7 km.] No outlands.
In 18 m. class Polish pilot Lucasz Wojcik, raced with his ASG 29 over the 612.5 km. with huge speed as well; 151.8 km. /ph. follwed by UK pilot Mike Young [57] with 149.7 km/ph. As the Polis pilots in this class were 1-4-7 they might have the precious Texas flag on their table again today. No outlands in this class.
The open class had a big task ahead of 714.8 km. and this time it was Dick Butlers day of glory. His hard work on the project of the CONCORDIA deserved that to the fullest. He flies a pure glider , so always has on less good days a possible outlanding in the back of his mind.
Dick flew his great looking toy to a speed of 154.2 km. /ph.
We were all looking so much forward to this open class this year with all the new gliders in it, but some pilots are not so pleased with it.
A good runner up was Oscar Goudriaan with a speed of 151.6 km./ph. in the JS 1 B.
So NO outlands yesterday!!! Good set long-enough tasks [ no complaints today I guess ]and fast pilots and a BIG party to finish the day.

On the GAGGLE TALK site ;
—Loved the USA/SSA party yesterday. For 10,- USA dollar you could sit on a friendly glazy looking bull and kids could do so for 5,-.
The food was good as appetizer you had small tortillas with a spicy salsa sauce or a great tasting mashed avocado dip. The beer was brought , even by the USA pilots, to the pilots/crews/guests as the waiting-lane was huge. Good tasting hot dogs with goodies to go with it, were a nice reward for the waiting. The USA TC welcomed everybody with a nice speed and music from the 60thies was played loud. The P51 was outside in front of the tent in a “bath” of light and silent bids were made on paper to see who bid most for the flights. Will find out later who won the bids as I went home early. The pictures will tell you the rest of the story.
