Sorry to be late!Practise day 5!

Good morning from sunny Uvalde where “maybe “today a record high of 39.5 dgr. C which is 103 F, will be reached. There are A and B tasks today and a 3.15 AAT in all classes. It is Augustus 1 a special day and I come back on that in my next blog, stand by.

This morning I visited the tie-down area and made some pictures to let you “feel ” the atmosphere at that spot. The South African Team has a pool between their trailers and gliders with a real stair to go in, meaning pretty high.

The briefing was at 10.15 and after the introductions, it was back to normal business; the day-winners. 2 Polish pilots had a “splendid ” day. Tomasz Rubaj won yesterday in the Diana 2 {SZD 56-2}and runner up in 15 m. class was another Diana 2 with Italian pilot Thomas Gostner. So a splendid day for the Diana 2 as well.

The current champion from Poland Zbigniew Nieradka won in 18m. class in the ASG 29, followed by Ricardo Brigliadori in the Ventus 2 CX;145.7 km./h and 145 km./h.

The open class winner yesterday was USA pilot Ron Tabery , flying the ASW 22 BLE, followed even closer by Dick Butler in the Concordia.;143.2 and 143.4 km./h.

Tomorrow is  the team-night from the German and Austrian pilots at 8 in “my”/the  big tent.

The landings were OK yesterday, but……2 pilots from one team had a minor mid air collision entering a thermal. Fortunately there was minor damage as well and the pilots could land their gliders at Uvalde airport. Overnight the wing tip from one has been repaired .

On the weather-front; The trigger temperature  will be 34.5 dgr. , the same SE flow as yesterday with first 5 then 7 and later 13 kt.p/h., sea breeze is forecasted for 17.00 CDT and the lift today will be 3 to 4 kts [ 1.5-2m] at 2 PM up to 5/6 [ 2.5-3m.] at 4 PM.
The CD finished with “fly safe, have fun, see you at the grid.”
It is nearly 12 now , back later.
