It was a Long and Interesting Day 6!

8.15 ;GOOD MORNING!
What a day yesterday! Pilots making it “home,”  [ there were a few outlandings] were nicely in time before sunset ,but… some just a bit too late for speed points as they landed after 20.08, at which time the finish line was closed.

So a very interesting and long day. In San Antonio to the east from here, trees fell over due to the high wind [75 mph], and some roofs started flying, so I guess we were pretty lucky we only had a max gust up to 23 kts here. Pilots had their first experience landing on runway or taxiway 33. But that was announced so many times, it could not go wrong. Great job from the organizers and nice long landings closer to the SSA tent.

Looking at yesterday’s scores in 15 m. Matthias Sturm added a 3d day to his daily wins and is on top overall again at least preliminary. Czech pilot Radek was a good runner up and I was pleased to see John Seaborn in spot 3 after his “sad” day with zero points because of missing the start point on day 4. John managed to get through the storms where others got more or less stuck at one of the TP’s.vSebastian was 4 and the two Dutch pilots are busy with a race to the podium as well by being 5 and 6. Felt sorry for Susanne; she made it home but just after the closure of the finish line.

In 18 m. class the Polish and UK pilots were the four best. Poland surely has that beautiful flag on their table again. And…as they said they want to keep it there. A good ambition! It’s up to the other pilots to try and get it on their table!

Danish pilot Arne was in spot 5.

In open class also a few pilots with distance points only. They arrived just after the line was closed .Oscar Goudriaan won the day over 700 km. with a speed of 135 km./h. He was followed by Michael, Pete,Tassilo, Alberto, Bruce, Brad , Holger and more of those WGC/EGC toppers. The best four had a difference in points from only 10 points!!!!

The beginning of the day and the end of the day…Caught in great pictures from top photographer Frans Guise.

Heard pilots saw “purple skies,” (hail???) yestyerday and a lot had to go through rain, wind and showers.
Off to the briefing soon and here are two more pictures from Frans made during yesterday’s briefing. ” Dick with the safety briefing and Dan the [weather-]Man!
