The air is very smooth , Peter mentions from his Arcus, so a small delay .They keep us posted. 1.5 m. lift!Dust devils active on the ground!
Peter is at 3800 ft MSL with 1 k trying to find more/better. Delay now till 13.00 !!

First launch with the A task was at 13.00 SHARP. I was at the open class grid and when you like cooked or boiled Ritz for lunch you can find it here in the white tent!Forgot my hat as well. Stupid! But made some nice pictures. All for the good cause.
First day with  AAT task so maybe other pilots who love AAT’s more then racing tasks will have a beaut day. Good luck to all.

start for 15 m. class opens at 14.36
start for 18 m. class opens at 13.57
start for open class opens at 14.15

Had a ride back with Ludwig who explained me a bit more about the Antares. His one has an electric engine to bring the pilot home if neccessary . The Antares flown by Pete[Harvey] has no engine , there will be a turbo in later, so it can carry lots of water all 12 tanks are FULL today. It can carry 32 min. and 85 max!

A big gaggle seems to be close to the path from the via the W. back-coming tuggies!Yes we see it!
3/8 of clouds over the field NOW!

Look at this picture from Richard. Huge dust devils!

Still busy launching the 15 m. class . Launches took 1.15. It’s after 2 now. Skies look great!!! See picture above!A thermal with lot’s of dust just went through the BIG tent. Ouch…

Got this INTERESTING news just from Ron one of the scorers; it’s from Tom Knauff and I publish it totally to make some advertisement as well for the e-books.

World Championships: Today’s Open class task is another area task. If
someone flies to the extreme edges of each area, they will fly longer
than the record I hold for the longest flight during a world
championships – 766 km. The maximum distance for today’s task is 804
km

We are working hard to get my flight training manuals as ebooks. You
can soon expect Glider Basics, After Solo, Transition To Gliders and
The Glider Flying Handbook (2012 edition) to all be available as an
ebook, which will reduce the costs for each of these books
dramatically.

Beautiful flying conditions this week. Rain on Friday.

Some GAGGLE TALK;

— heard at the strip that the Belgium team has bought a picture from last year in the Antique shop, with all signatures from the 1991 comps here in Uvalde. It goes to Belgium now!

—that year Belgium pilot Paul Bourgard flew here in open class. His crew was a police in Belgium. He introduced himself to the sherif here and got a deputy sherif star. One of his
“performances” was to let a young under-aged boy drive a car to town……????!!!!

—had a nice talk with Ron about hang gliding and finally found out that not Jonny [Australia] but the USA boy got the world distance a few weeks ago,…
BUT Jonny Durand went the next day alone and got himself a record as well. Those records were flown over this area.
Nice ,we knew quite some people in hanggliding…Atilla, Tove and Grant Heany, Davis Strauss and his wife and more.

—A young mother arrived here today with her son in a real Texas out fit. Enjoy!

More news and updates and pictures in the next blog. CU later Ritz
