After briefing;updated!

CD Ken started the briefing in a cheery mood.
 NO LAND OUTS
GOOD SPEED
GREAT DAY……BUT……
They had one complaint and that was that tasks were too short yesterday….
his answer on that ; “We do better today”.
Here are the tasks ;
15m. 644.0 km.
18m. 612.6 km.
open.714.9 km.
There might be a B task, will keep you informed and you read more about this later in this blog.
Grid closes at noon and the first expected launch will be at 12.20.

What happened more at briefing
Introductions ; Bernald Smith , who did Ken’s job in 1991 and Hannes  Linke who did John’s job[assistant CD] in 1991. Also Art Grant from Canada was mentioned as steward.

Yesterday’s winners were as announced this morning in the blog and from 18 m. class you see on the top picture the UK pilots Russell and Mike.
The overall winners were announced as well and I will mention them later.
The TEAM CUP best result was for POLAND! Congratulations they got the precious Texas flag on their table for the day.

As I said yesterday already landings were yesterday VERY interesting and quite spectacular to look at. I saw about 8 coming in one go , Ken saw 12 and all pilots adjusted well to land behind each other in a safe way. Crews did a great job in retrieving VERY quickly from the runway or taxi way.

THE WEATHER ;
Dan always looks back first , the only thing yesterday was that we could have started earlier!
The High Pressure is moving slowly to the WNW.
The lower air remains moist.
They are securely watching some clouds, but they still look”slim”. The Northern part of the Hill Country might have a possibility of thunderstorms which might have an influence, but that influence at this stage is considered LOW.
They monitor it and in the “worst” case they go to a B task announced to the TC ‘s on the grid. They are pretty sure to go for task A.
Lift will be up to 3m /s. at 2 PM and up to 4m/s. at 4 PM.
Wind will be light and variable and later in the day 7-12 from the SE.
Trigger temperature is 32,5 dgr.c.
Max temperature will be 38.5 and MAX altitude will be 9000 ft. and in the hills 10.500.

The sniffer went up at 11.52! Clouds popping up first in the E now in the S as well. To thye W. some cirrus firmaments.

On the GAGGLE-TALK site;
— got a mail yesterday that they started in Holland on FB, the “Mac Ichikawa-fanclub”. They loved the picture Mac is dressed as some kind of “zombie”, but…Mac is very sensitive for the sun and burns straight away and…he is allergic for about everything. So a good reason to walk around and fly like that.

—Antti Lehto picked up Mona and Paula.

—unconfirmed reports of alligators in the SA pool at the field……????

—chief steward Dick looks like a Texan boy with his straw hat on his yellow bike[driving to the field at 12.04]

— the picture with Russell and Mike; Got to know Mike as a very young boy in 1987 when he crewed for the UK team in Benalla [Australia] My kids and the UK kids “played”together; cricket and soccer. No need to tell you that “we” were good in soccer and “they ” in cricket.
At that time we said , these kids are the future for competition soaring. They are. Leigh Wells was already world champion, The Jones brothers are toppers in the UK and international and Mike is on spot 2 OVERALL now.
