10.000 FT wave??? Pilots at 3100 m.!!!

COMPLIMENTS to the HARD workers , specially the very young ones at the field!

15.30 update: The wind sock “hangs”, the skies look fabulous like  a REAL Uvalde sky, but it took a while before pilots went on track.
Pilots reallly wanted to use the VERY- BEST- WEATHER -HOURS for their task today.
So in 15 m. the first start was at 14.33 and the last one at this stage at 15.26, so nearly ONE hour later , while 6 have to be still counted for.
In 18 m. only one pilot left at this stage  at 15.06
In open class Patrick was the first to leave at 14.43 and at this stage the last one departed at 15.10, while another 17 are not yet mentioned as started.
Several TC’s will only send the starttimes at the last moment.
Atleast we know now that we can expect the first finishers around 17.48!!!

16.00 update ;
ALL 15 m. pilots have left now with nearly an hour difference.
In 18 m. the  pilots left betwee 14.08 and 15. 26!!! More then one hour difference!
In open class between 14.43 and 15.24. So less then one hour.
VERY INTERESTING!!!!

An aborted take off yesterday and a long run till the end of the runway means unfortunately the end of the WGC for Czech pilot Petr Krejcirik. He was totally OK, the glider had some damage.

17.00 update;
There seems to be WAVE. This wave comes from the top of the cumulus . There is no start -line -limit-height , which is interesting as this wave was there around the start. Some pilots do have oxygen, some do not. The pilots reaching that height hopefully do have oxygen. I saw quite a few with have the system in the glider, which is good.
This makes the day even more interesting.
 45 minutes before the first gliders will be back. Will be back then too.

Just heard that pilots have been at 3100 METER.Whoopie!
It’s at least 40 dgr. C here in the tent. There is a bit more wind here and still 3/8 of cu’s here over the field.

5 m. lift seems ‘NORMAL’ we are looking at a good day , no a great day , maybe even an exceptional day. LET’S WAIT AND SEE, when they are back.

You can follow the gliders via the tracking system.
