Practise Day 2 is a Fact – Updated!

The thermals “hitting” the ground and called “dust devils” here , are so strong that my laptop nearly went with it, a few things in the shop beside me went flying! Crews and TC’s quickly come back to find at least a bit of shade. One glider made a real bad landing coming back to the field. Some are having a rest day, the rest are out flying:

15 m for  497.8 km
18 m for 500.4 km
Open for 570 km

In between several people “drop in ” for a talk as Kiki, coach from the Italian team and Roberto, the TC from Italy with his wife.

Also Canadian pilot David Springford and his wife, came to say hello. He took the day off and flies again tomorrow.
Terry [Cubley] was enjoying a real Texan Hamburger  and Gary, Bill’s crew had a rest here, after the hot field and we both put the Texan Hamburger “in/on the picture/spotlight”. It is still practise time so we have time for social talk as well, it does not have to be TOO serious now.

It’s very blue here at 3.30 some pilots arrived back, some say they are giving up at the task, the rest are happily flying or in the hangar for their acceptance check. In the office they work hard to get the ID badges ready and I met Leigh the very kind lady, who is going to write for the WGC site.

Had a nice talk with Andrej Kolar from SEE YOU, who keeps an eye on the scores here for a week, as the scores here are done with SeeYou. Andrej is here together with his mate Erazem Polutnik, the BRAIN behind SeeYou, but here now also representing LXNAV. Both ran out when a lot of gliders were landing, as “after a flight they sometimes need us.” Great service!

Andrej and Erazem

You are updated again, maybe later some news about how the day was as heard from the pilots. Cu then cheers Ritz
