2012 Open Class Nationals — Day Six

The day six task was 3 hour 15 minute Turn Area Task with turnpoints of Lee Vining, Yerington, and Sweetwater.  Everyone made it back to the airport.  First place for the day was Ray Gimmey in the ASG-29-18 with 281 miles and 86 MPH.  Second place was earned by Rick Indrebo (sorry I spelled his name wrong in an earlier report) in the ASW27, with 285 miles at 85 MPH.  Third was Chip Garner in the Windward Performance Duck Hawk with 258 miles at 80 MPH.

Day seven is a well-earned rest day, so I don’t have any colorful details to share from Sunday’s flights.  Winds on the surface at the Minden Airport are out of the west at about 20 with gusts to 30.  Yes, there is wave, but the winds on the ground are now too strong to tow safely.
