Klaus Ohlmann’s 1,497 km Easter Flight

OLC Magazine: As Easter morning dawned in Serres la Batic, France, Klaus Ohlmann cranked up his Stemme S-10VT and headed into a gray sky, encountering light rain on the way up. At 400 meters (~1,300 feet), Klaus entered ridge lift on a nearby slope and turned off the engine. Turning east on course toward Italy, he eventually found 5 m/s (~10 knots) of lift in wave, then 7 m/s. 13.5 hours later, he had completed a three TP flight which covered 1,497 km and took him well into Italy and back.

Klaus’ account of his flight, including in-flight photos, appears in the April issue of the OLC Magazine. The article is in German, but you can fire up Google’s Translator if you don’t read the language.
