SSA 2012—Touring Motorgliders: Versatility in Action

Richard Pearl and Michael Haisten of the Touring Motorglider Association gave this talk at SSA 2012 on Friday, February 3rd in the hope that it will motivate you to join TMGA and get out and FLY! About the Presenters: Richard Pearle is a CFI-G with 1,500 hours in pure gliders, 500 hours in motor gliders, and 50 hours in airplanes. He has owned his Grob 109 since 1997 and bases it at Auburn, California and Truckee, California during the summer. He is president of Soaring Truckee, Inc., a commercial gliderport in Truckee, a commercial gliderport in Truckee, and is a member of the Silverado Soaring Club. Richard started the Grob 109 user group n 2007 on the Yahoo platform and has been instrumental in forming the new Touring Motorglider Association, an organization designed to promote TMGs as a ‘type’ of sailplane. Richard has organized what will become a national fly-in for TMGs. This event has been held in Minden, Nevada and last year, 25 ships arrived from nine different states and as far away as Connecticut and Florida.
