The Weather…is the Weather!

The weather is the weather and as a [glider] pilot you have to live with it…we all know!
The weather can also be a topic when there is nothing else to say any more!
The weather can be damaging, creating a lot of sadness, but the weather can also create great circumstances for top flights making people more-than-happy!
Sadness and happiness…two very different feelings on the same day in a different country.

This week I noticed the first good over-750-flights in Pokweni and Kiripotib. Yes I know, long-wing gliders ASH 25 & EB28, but  it is all happening! A PIK 20E flew a good 603 km flight in the Eastern Australia. Containers full of gliders arrive today or tomorrow in Corowa; their owners–happy pilots–arrived and are looking with great expectations toward this new overseas season.

In the meantime, the NW of Italy has been hit again with heavy thunderstorms and all the rain created flooding, killing parents[4] waiting for their children [2] at school. A lot of sadness!
A bit more to the East,  in Switzerland young Bert Schmelzer  [Belgium, but working and living in Zürich] flew 721 km in a Discus 2. A happy chappy making the most beautiful pictures of his flight, which I am allowed to share with you.

In the UK heavy fog and wet roads created a huge collision on one of the main roads, the M5, involving 26 cars and trucks and at least 51 people were badly injured. Seven died!! Very sad! A bit more to the East, here in Holland, we enjoy the highest temperatures and walk or bike around with big smiles .

Different weather…different feelings…in different countries!

The weather…you never stop talking about it!
