Sorry for the late post, too many tasks! Anyway Day 7 is done and all ships made it home safely. A cool front had draped over the area and make for uncertain weather and anxiety for the task committee. The day saw lower speeds and lower TOL than all earlier ... ∞
Back at it again after a rest day on Monday. Monday afternoon and evening a cool front sagged over the area and a line from Roswell, NM to Lubbock got .5 to 4 inches of rain! Some cells were quite impressive as was the lightning.

Well it was an amazing day for racing in Hobbs. 8 of the 15 contestants did over 100 MPH for the task and the top speed was 111 MPH covering 452 miles. Simply great great flying and racing conditions.

Task opened at 13:30 MDT. Maximum start height is 12,000 MSL and reports of pilots at 10K climbing 9 knots were heard from the task advisers. Clouds are filling into to the north ad over the field.

Everyone is pumped up for another day of great racing. The weather forecast and models are calling for TOL to be 18,800 with some area in the tasking to be over 20K! There is low level moisture this am and this should be enough to create CLOUDS! With a good ... ∞

It's a horse race today! Most pilots are through the 342 mile mandatory portion of the MAT and they have about an hour to do their own thing! Average speed for this section appears to be 95+ MPH. Will we see 100 MPH average today?

Well, the weather turned out different than than the forecast. We were concerned about the boundary layer winds capping the lift but with the higher than expected temperatures the air warmed quickly with the decreasing winds. Pilots reported 17K while still climbing at 11 knots! Ray Gimmey the 'boys' how ... ∞
My posts for Day 3 were not saved and I was technically challenged and decided to concentrate on the contests tasks, which are never ending.
Day 3 was hard for most pilots as the last leg was 95 miles into a 20-20+ knot headwind, unforecasted. A few made it ease and ... ∞
The day was a good racing day and the conditions were similar to what was predicted by the models. More clouds than expected though a few pilots said it was hard to connect with them till 2/3's of the way through the task. Some large areas of sink were also ... ∞

The day is looking great for racing, better soaring than Tuesday is forecast but the pilots will have to keep an eye out for isolated over development and thunderstorms.

First set of pilots are checking in and the day was tough. Lots of slow work between 6-10K until 3:30 when many folks finally got to the predicted TOL of 12K. Lots of great final glides resulting in some early arrivals
